Understanding the Problem

When we arrived at this home, the chimney was showing clear signs of aging and exposure. The old chase pan was heavily rusted, and the existing can (chimney cap) was no longer providing proper airflow or protection. Rust spread across the entire top surface, signaling long-term water intrusion risks. Left alone, this could have caused leaks, mold, masonry damage, and expensive structural repairs. Our first step was a full assessment to understand the condition of the chase, the flue, and the surrounding brickwork, ensuring the chimney was safe to restore.

Installing the New Chase Pan and Can

Once the inspection was complete, we removed the deteriorated pan and cap. Years of exposure had weakened both pieces, making replacement essential. Before & After- Chase pan replacement | Texas Chimney LLC

We installed a custom-made chase pan designed to seal the top of the chimney tightly and prevent rainwater from entering. This new pan is made from durable, rust-resistant metal that can withstand harsh weather and protect the underlying structure for many years.
After securing the chase pan, the next step was installing the new can. This updated chimney cap improves ventilation, reduces downdrafts, keeps animals and debris out, and enhances safety every time the fireplace is in use. Together, the new chase pan and cap created a clean, watertight, and fully reinforced chimney top that dramatically improved both function and appearance.

Long-Term Protection and Additional Services

With everything sealed and secured, the transformation was immediately noticeable. The new chase pan gave the chimney a clean, modern finish, and the new cap ensured better airflow and long-term reliability. Beyond improving the chimney’s look, this upgrade significantly increased the home’s protection against moisture and wildlife.
At Texas Chimney LLC, we handle more than just chase pan and cap replacements. We also offer chimney sweeping, fireplace troubleshooting, waterproofing, masonry repairs, crown rebuilding, and even dryer vent cleaning for added home safety.
